We got our Gracie girl from Laban in July 2022 and she is the greatest dog we could ever imagine. Laban was extremely helpful with answering our questions throughout the process as well as after we got her. He is extremely available and makes sure the process was seamless and comfortable. Gracie is a sweet, intelligent, playful, obedient dog that has brought so much joy to our lives. She loves meeting people, finding sticks and has made so many doggy friends in the city. Life has been incredible since we received our puppy from Laban. Sally was the mother of our pup. I can’t express how wonderful my little girl is! She is attentive, loving and smart. I can't say enough good things about Laban and Violet Hill Puppies! My Lily has been so wonderful - happy temperament, extremely social, smart and fairly easy to train, and a great size. At 9 months now, she's a great medium sized dog at 40lbs. She's got a bit more energy than I anticipated living in an apartment, but I get her out for plenty of walks/to the dog park. I expect her to calm down more as she gets older, but even with her energy she calms down at night and has always slept well through the night. A lot of that is a testament to the two week foundational training program with Laban's sister. I think that was instrumental to Lily coming home comfortable with her crate and sleeping through the night. Before bringing Lily home, Laban was always open to questions and you can really tell he puts a lot of care into these puppies. I'm so grateful to have this new lovable family member!

I fell in love with Bernese mountain dogs years ago but with the weather in Los Angeles, I knew the thick double coat of a Bernese would be hard on the dog in the summer. So I started searching for Bernese mixes.
Bingle is now 1 year old, looks almost exactly like a Bernese.
Laban was attentive to my needs (I wanted a male because my current dog has aggression to other females) and available all week via phone and text. He also works closely with a vet to make sure the puppies are in good health and get some early vaccines.
Bingle brings an immense amount of joy to me and my roommates! I've done a lot of training with him (he's a very eager learner), but his temperament has really made everything easy. He is friendly, enthusiastic, and a good listener when other dogs tell him to back off. He forgives easy, shares toys, and doesn't resource guard at all. At the beach and dog park, his sister (a 15 pound old lady!) has had to come to his defense if another dog picks on him because he doesn't want to fight and shows his tummy immediately.
He's gentle with small dogs, and even lays down on the floor and shows them his tummy if they get scared of him. He's also become pretty well known at the dog parks in my area as a goofy, friendly lad who can get almost any dog to play with him.
At home he loves fetch, tug, catch, and anything that will get him treats. He's also a huge cuddle bug.
His energy levels have been pretty low for a puppy and a teen-dog (an hour of activity will make him plop on the ground with a very heavy THUD) and I'm looking forward to him getting older and settling into a career as a snoring weighted-blanket.

I had been contemplating getting a dog for some time and always loved Bernese Mountain Dogs. The only problem was that I live in a relatively small townhouse making a large dog a challenge. While researching dog breeds I stumbled on to the Violet Hill Puppies website and realized this would be the perfect dog for me. I was impressed with the pairing of AKC certified dogs and that Laban was so easy to reach and was prepared to answer my questions. I reached out to Laban and soon after placed a deposit for an upcoming litter. The litter arrived and soon it was time to choose my little bundle of fur. It was during the COVID epidemic so Laban arranged a FaceTime virtual meeting with the puppies to allow me to choose from the ones that where still available. With strict COVID requirements in place during the early days of the epidemic I would have had to quarantine for 10 days if I left the state. So I arranged to meet Laban at Vermont Welcome Center to pick up my puppy.

I picked up Minka a year ago. She is now a little over 14 months and could not be more happy with her. She is not just a hit with me, but insist on befriending everyone (human and canine). Minka loves kids and is never aggressive with anyone. She is outgoing, sweet, loves to play, go for walks in the Vermont woods (especially in the winter) and then comes home and loves to curl up with me on the sofa or in bed.

Minka is smart, was easy to house train, is very quiet and rarely barks and only does when she needs or wants something. She has a smooth thick coat that a technician at her veterinary center suggested she could be featured in commercials. Keep your puppy on a healthy diet as recommended by Laban and you should have a happy/healthy puppy. Minka does have two pretty intense shedding seasons - I do recommend daily brushing to control shedding and to avoid any matting. Grooming is pretty straight forward. Brush your Mini Berner daily, routinely trim the fur from her ears and grinches and apply paw wax in the winter to protect her paw pads from the ice and salt. I also brush her teeth daily.

I have reached out to Laban a couple of times since I have had Minka and he has always responded with a text or phone call. If you are interested in a wonderful Miniature Bernese Mountain Dog I strongly recommend Laban and Violet Hill Puppies

My experience with Laban at Violet Hill Puppies

It took me awhile to decide what I was looking for in a puppy and if I was ready for one, but once I saw the Mini Bernese puppies on the Violet Hill Puppies website I wanted to find out more. It is sometimes difficult to know if the breeder is in it for the money or for the puppies they care for. In conversation with Laban, I never once questioned his motives. Sometimes you have to trust your instincts and I am ever so glad I did. Laban quickly responded to my many text messages and calls and is a wealth of knowledge. My take is he is truly a honest caring person and I am so grateful to have met Laban and the new Mini Bernese Puppy “Roscco”.

MEANINGFUL, POSITIVE EXPERIENCE WITH LABAN AT VIOLET HILL PUPPIES

Browsing on the internet at home in Idaho one evening, we stumbled upon Violet Hill Puppies. Bingo, this was the perfect combination of breeds, and so precious-looking. Little did we know what a meaningful journey we were beginning.

We went through the simple process of putting down a deposit, then patiently waited for the next litter. Even though it took longer than expected, nature had its due course. In the interim, Laban and I spoke regularly, just getting to know one another. I learned that he is a dedicated, honest, young adult filled with integrity. He is meticulous about his profession. Laban ascertains that both the parent and puppies are seen by the veterinarian, with shots given timely. He cares about their diet, their schedule, their security, and the demeanor of the Mom with the pups. I also learned that he has a community of family supporting him and the pups. They are born into a wonderful family environment.

Eight puppies were birthed on July 29, 2020. The process of "picking out a pup" was well thought out, organized, and fair. As the puppies were raised, Laban was able to FaceTime with the Mom and litter, which was exciting. They were all so darling.

We now have a 3-month old mini Bernese named Kati Bear. She is a dream, a joy. Laughter fills our home.

Getting her to Idaho was not an issue. Even though Laban offered to drive her from Ohio to Idaho, I chose to fly. I took a soft crate, airline compatible. Kati was right with me on the plane. She behaved amazingly well. In the airport, she stuck her head out of the kennel, didn't jump out. Then on the 3 plane rides she slept. It's easier than you think it might be, even with the COVID restrictions.
